Bigs – Fishtown Rec Center
The older children were asked to think about “treasure” and what came to mind. Some answers included money, gold, and jewelry. Then I asked them to think a little deeper, think about things that weren’t tangible and what they treasure and value. Now we started getting answers like friendship, love, happiness, and peace. I showed the group an example of a pre-folded and cut treasure chest. When you lift the flaps, the chest ‘opens’ to reveal what you’ve hidden inside. I told the group they will be drawing pictures of what they treasure– whether it’s actual, physical objects like a favorite stuffed animal, or something intangible, like friendship and respect. We got some really interesting and creative treasures from everyone!
