Last week at both Fishtown and Cieon, Mr. Lee and I used shapes and instruments to make our own music and perform in various dynamics – forte, mezzo and piano, each corresponds to loud, medium and low volume. First we handed each kid a set of different shapes of triangles, squares and rectangles. Each shape represents a specific movement. Then we ask the kids to put them on the board with the order they like.

Then after the music is ‘made’, we ask everyone to perform the actions with song in rhythm. Our goal was to make everyone engaged while performing together as a group. It took us several tries but the end result was great and kids love music!

It was a great success at both Fishtown and Cieon last week. Next week we will try more variation with the music and actions.
