The Friends Neighborhood Guild, a multi-service settlement house that was founded by Quakers in 1879, serves a low-income population of North Philadelphia. It’s mission is to serve and respond to the needs of community residents who are less able to help themselves by providing social services, seeking to improve the quality of life of its neighbors, and assisting in community development and strengthening. Current programs include a Neighborhood Energy Center, food pantry, after school enrichment, truancy prevention, Philadelphia Freedom School, and community learning center. It also has a vibrant volunteer program.
