Week 4 at Fishtown, Pre-K students read The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. We discussed why Rainbow Fish was having a hard time making friends (spoiler: he wasn’t sharing!). So we talked about why it’s good to share and that it’s nice to share when you have lots of something that others have none of. Sharing is still a very new concept to these 4 and 5 year olds, so I’m hoping with an easy to read and understandable book, they can begin to understand and help make the world a more kind place.
I demonstrated how to draw scales – we talked about drawing ovals or the letter U or a round W for scales. After everyone finished coloring and decorating their Rainbow Fish, they were given “shining scales” (foil) to glue on!
