This year we decided to honor the creations of Art Sphere Inc.’s Preschool students at each site by hosting a final art show at each site! At Fishtown Recreation Center, Samuels Recreation Center and Shissler Recreation Center we set up displays of the students artwork and artist statements for students to show their parents. (Interviewing preschool students to compile artist statements is delightful by the way and their statements will be posted in another blog post). At each site we greeted parents to discuss the work students created this semester, get their feedback on the program, and to distribute our free online book as well as recipes for home-made doughs to continue 3D art exploration at home. We also set up a chalk sign for students to draw on to welcome parents to the show, which also introduced them to the technique of using tape-resist for drawing. It was such a pleasure getting to know each of these students and I hope that they will continue to find joy in art making as they grow.
