Get excited for a new season with Art Sphere Inc.
Dear Friends of Art Sphere Inc.,
Just as Labor Day commemorates the official end of the summer and pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers, this ASI email newsletter commemorates the work of many generous American volunteers including: businesses, schools, colleges, non-profits and individuals like you, that have joined with us this Summer and continue to work with us this Fall to creatively impact neighborhoods.
We have lots of changes in store so get excited with Art Sphere Inc. as we share the joy of finding new friends, going back to school and experiencing more in life by joining us for our next fun free Art Opening Event with refreshments Friday, September 7th from 5-8pm! Located at Jed Williams Studio Gallery, 615 Bainbridge St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19147-2111.
During the month of September, Art Sphere will hold free art workshops on the theme of messages for Healing including miniature envelope arrangements symbolic of the many inspiring conversations had with volunteers and participants of our programs.
Youth and artist created jewelry, stationary, books and art, as well as posters designed by Art Institute of Philadelphia students will be on view at our benefit exhibition to be held at Jed Williams Studio.
The exhibit will be on view from September 7-30. There will also be a special origami workshop for all ages there with Art Sphere on Saturday, September 15th from 3-5pm. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/events/115891465225160/ or call the gallery at (267) 970-5509 for more information.
As we see with the seasons changing, whether we are ready or not, life is not standing still. Sometimes, we may think we are the same or our life is the same but each day change is with us whether we like to admit it or not. The new volunteers have asked us the tough questions that we pose to you as well as our students: ” What do you want to accomplish?”, “What shift could meaningfully enhance your life” and “What are you committed to getting started with now?” With only four months left of 2012, I encourage you too, to begin today to do things differently, and embrace change.
Thank you for helping us move the lives we impact in a new directions.
Best Wishes,
Kristin

Celebrate Open Studios with Art Sphere Inc.!
Join us Saturday, October 20th and Sunday, October 21st, 12-6pm for Art Sphere Inc Studio Open House and 915 Open Studios. See artwork and make art with us at studio #401.
At 915 Spring Garden’s Open Studios weekend, held every Fall since 1981, you can visit about 100 artists’ studios – all under one roof. Artists have colonized the five floors of this historic building, originally occupied by the Reading Railroad. Meet artists and learn about art from those working in ceramics, paper making, sculpture, fibers, water color, printmaking, oils and more (on our 4th floor alone!). https://www.915studios.com.
Maybe its time for us to look around us at new views of possibilities… that are being presented to us by being open to change!

This week we meet with 4 Libyan Visitors for Department of State Project to discuss Art Sphere’s programs and activities which use art to connect cultures and promote community harmony, for example the collaborative public murals, conflict resolution workshops, and cross-cultural art exchanges. Earlier groups from Spain and from Armenia were very intrigued by our work, clearly reflected in the State Department’s review of the program. In fact, they were so impressed that they specifically requested Art Sphere Inc for a meeting with another interesting and important program involving conflict resolution. By partnering with the International Visitors Council of Philadelphia and bringing ambassadors, teachers, artists and activists and of other countries to our transformed sites and sharing our projects we inspire change in other countries.
We look forward hearing from you!
