- Contribution/Impact: Andy Warhol was an artist that created “Pop Art” and used various figures as canvases. They ranged from celebrities like Marylin Monroe to Drag Queens.

- Known For: Marilyn (1967), Campbell’s Soup Can (1962)
- Awards: 35th and 36th Annual Art Award for Distinctive Merit (1956-7), 36th Annual Art Directors Club Medal
- Interesting Facts: Aside from paintings, Warhol also made films with one such example being a six-hour film called Sleep where subjects… sleep. Riveting.
Warhol’s parents were immigrants from the Austria-Hungary Empire (modern day Slovakia) who moved to Pittsburgh and gave birth to Warhol and his two brothers. Growing up, Warhol suffered from nervous breakdowns but was able to overcome them and successfully graduate high school and college. He moved to New York City with a classmate from college and began working on drawings for magazines. His talent and will to create art eventually lead him to become one of the most iconic artists of his time.
