Holding Our Bones Together
Function:
A ligament is a fibrous connective tissue that attaches bones to each other. Think of them as ropes that hold the bones of the skeleton together, keeping them in their correct spots which in turn hold structures together and keep them stable.
The ligament can be found in different sizes and shapes depending on the region it belongs to.
Fun Fact:
Ligaments are only slightly elastic; when under tension, they gradually lengthen.
