What is a monument?
A monument is a structure or object that has been created to commemorate a person, event, or idea of historical, cultural, or artistic significance.
Monuments can take many different forms, such as statues, memorials, plaques, obelisks, arches, buildings, or natural landmarks, and can be found in public spaces, parks, museums, cemeteries, or other places of significance.
Monuments are often intended to inspire or educate and may serve as a symbol of identity or collective memory for a particular community or nation.
How is a monument different than a public sculpture?
A monument is usually a large, permanent structure that is erected to commemorate a significant event, person, or group of people. Monuments often have a symbolic or historical significance and are intended to be long-lasting. They may be made of stone, metal, or other durable materials and are often placed in prominent public locations, such as parks, town squares, or government buildings.

How does a monument get made?
A monument gets made through several stages. The first step is developing a concept and design, which relevant authorities must approve. Then, materials such as stone, metal, or concrete are gathered for fabrication. The monument is then created through a process of carving, welding, casting, or other methods.
Finally, the monument is installed in its final location and dedicated to a ceremony that may involve speeches, music, or other traditions.
