The story of the Sky Woman is the story of a goddess of the Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) – an Indigenous tribe of Canada and northern New York state. In the legend, the Sky Woman falls from an island in the sky and creates a home on the back of a turtle that eventually grows to become her home and the land where she grows the Iroquois culture.
