Pennsylvania State Flower: Mountain Laurel

The Mountain Laurel is the flower of Pennsylvania, as decided by Gifford Pinchot in 1933. The flower represents perseverance and favors rocky mountain tops. They come in white and pink, and can be seen in full bloom from May through June. Mountain Laurel are also called ivybush, lambkill, spoonwood, calico bush, sheep laurel, and calmoun. They are known for their star shaped flowers and sweet fragrance.
