Meet Sean – a Film and Media Arts student at Temple University and an ASI videographer, photographer, art teacher, and mural painting volunteer.
My name is Sean Olivier, a Film and Media Arts student at Temple University. I was looking for opportunities to volunteer in my community and the programs that you’re offering at Art Sphere Inc. were exactly what I was looking for. I really think I can help my community through my own creative and artistic abilities and hopefully help other young aspiring artists. Working with kids, specifically in an artistic and educational capacity, appeals to me because I have often helped my siblings with school work growing up and I can sympathize with what it feels like to struggle in that area.
A few of your programs specifically interested me, such as the program teaching art in Fishtown, making film art curriculum for inner city youth, and your program titled “Teaching Compassion Through Art.” Although my main interests, and most of my knowledge, are in film and video work (and I have my own Canon dslr camcorder), I can contribute a plethora of other skills in arts and crafts including pottery, sculpture, painting, and mosaic. I also have skills in writing both poetry and prose as well as with musical instruments such as guitar. I also get along very well with kids.
Do you get along with kids and want to teach but don’t want to get your hands dirty? No problem! We have many volunteer opportunities and can find the one to best suit you. We also are working on documenting our projects and programs and could use your help. Bring your equipment or borrow ours, learn trade secrets from other volunteers, and share your expertise. Come and join us at times that fit your schedule, whether on weekends, weekdays, summers or after school.
