Lesson #1 Goals – Make a Goal for Yourself

Your Destination: Imagine yourself when you are older. Draw yourself with your dream home, car and clothes.

Travel Kit:
Setting Daily Goals, Setting a Savings Plan and What is YOUR Dream? handout, a pencil and eraser.

On the Path: Think about what you want your long-term goal to be.

Step 1: Start by setting daily goals to build your success muscles. See Setting Daily Goals handout. Accomplishing small goals is a necessary step to achieving big ones.

Step 2: Give yourself an achievable financial goal. See My Future Goal. It will make you feel powerful once you have achieved it.

Step 3: If you start too big and end up not achieving your first week’s goals, don’t give up on it. Temporarily scaling down plans and slowly working back up can help you build self-confidence and increase the probability of keeping up the routine of saving. Take time to reflect: This is where you must accurately evaluate how much and on what timeline you want to save.

Extend Your Journey: Set a long-term goal for yourself, whatever your dream is. See What is YOUR Dream handout? You will achieve some of your goals, and some you won’t. Look at what you have achieved. Talk with family members or friends about their dreams and how they accomplished them and share yours.

Learn new vocabulary:
