In association with the John Heinz Refuge, we will be bringing ducks into our summer programs. This week at Fishtown Recreation Center and Towey we had the students draw ducks. We are getting the work ready for a duck stamp contest and some of the art will be featured at an exhibit at the PA Academy of Natural Sciences. We brought in handouts to help them draw the ducks anatomically correct. We also talked about the importance of ducks in the ecosystem.
With the remaining time we talked about “Wild Things” and created monsters with the kids. We talked about what could be a wild thing and encouraged them to use their imagination to tell a story.
