Week 4, Kinder (almost 1st graders), at Fishtown Recreation Center, discussed the texture of a cacti. Sharp, pointy, spikey, hard, prickly. We talked about collage and how artists glue objects or paper together to create something new- it sometimes looks like something and other times it’s abstract. We created our own cactus in a pot collage using construction paper, crayons, markers, scissors and glue. Many of the students had a story to tell about their not-so-fun experience with real cacti! Ouch!
