Valentines for Seniors
We made almost 200 valentines for Senior Citizens, delivering them to sites and making art with Friends Senior Guild House and senior citizens at Fair Acres in February as part of our yearly tradition.
Senior citizens often feel forgotten in Senior Care Facilities. Some have no living friends or family and such small gestures of kindness are greatly welcomed and appreciated. Having youth participate in making cards helps break down the disconnect between generations and brings an awareness of the needs of the elderly.
Valentines for Soldiers
We also have sent valentines to Navy Sea-Bees helping reconstruct Afghanistan. Small ways we can show compassion are particularly needed in areas of great violence and soldiers have been very appreciative of these small reminders of their normal lives.
