Land Environmental Activism

Background

Plastic is one of the biggest issues since it is not environmentally friendly. Since it takes thousands of years to decay this leads to trash piling up, causing people and animals to leave their homes. Pollution can cause the soil to become less fertile for agriculture, which makes it more difficult to help grow plants. Climate change, which causes an onslaught of disastrous problems, including flash floods and irregular rainfalls along with the increase in wildfires because of polluted areas.

Wrenched from the Land: Perspectives from the Front Lines of Environmental Activism

History

Climate change is playing an increasing role in determining wildfire regimes alongside human activity (medium confidence), with future climate variability expected to enhance the risk and severity of wildfires in many biomes such as tropical rainforests. Fire weather seasons have lengthened globally between 1979 and 2013. Global land area burned has declined in recent decades, mainly due to less burning in grasslands and savannahs. While drought remains the dominant driver of fire emissions, there has recently been increased fire activity in some tropical and temperate regions during normal to wetter than average years due to warmer, and we must do something to stop this.
