Function:

How do you speak? Your voice box is a hollow muscular organ that contains the vocal cords. The larynx is the upper opening into the windpipe, which is the passageway to the lungs. Not only does it allow you to make words, but your voice box also protects your lower airways and makes breathing easier. 

Fun Fact:

Larynx is generally called the voice box or the vocal cords. It is the organ primarily responsible for the production of voice.
