Break Down
Function:
There are two main functions of the mouth: eating and speaking. When we eat, we use our teeth to bite and break down the food into smaller pieces in preparation to swallow them. Your lips, tongue, and teeth help form words by controlling airflow out of the mouth. Where your tongue strikes the teeth or the roof of the mouth influences what sounds are made!
Fun Fact:
Without saliva, we would not be able to taste anything.
