Lung

Air Balloons

Function:

You might be wondering where the air goes when you breathe. The answer is the lungs! The lungs are a part of the respiratory system, which allows you to take fresh air, get rid of stale air, and even talk! Within your chest are two lungs, each one expands like a balloon when you breathe in and shrinks when you breathe out.

You have two big lungs, which are located in your chest. Each one is like a balloon, when you breathe in the air, the lungs swell up. Once, you release the air out, the lungs shrink. You can try it out on your own and see what happens!

Fun Fact:

Lungs aren’t the same size. To accommodate the heart, the right lung is larger than the left lung — for humans, that is.
