A Safe Environment
Function:
The epididymis consists of a single coiled tube that can only be seen through a microscope. Even though it is so small, it measures almost 20 feet (6 meters) in length! Its role is to collect sperm from the testis and provides the environment for sperm to mature until they are able to move through the female reproductive system and fertilize an ovum
Fun Fact:
Sperm cells produced in the testes are transported to the epididymis, where they mature and are stored.
