Nerves

The Cable System

Function:

Think of a nerve as a cable that carries important information from one part of the body to another, primarily to and from the brain. They are made up of a bundle of fibers wrapped around fat and tissue. Your nerves are spread throughout your body to make sure you feel everything from your nose to the tips of your toes!

Fun Fact:

The longest nerve in the body is the sciatic nerve. It runs from the spinal cord to the toes on each side of the body.
