Skeletal muscle

Moving in the Right Direction

Function:

Flex your arm. Do you see your bicep? Your bicep is one of many skeletal muscles in your body that help you move because they are attached to your bones. These muscles keep your body upright and balanced, preventing damage to your skeleton. Each skeletal muscle is an organ that consists of various integrated tissues. These tissues include the skeletal muscle fibers, blood vessels, nerve fibers, and connective tissue.

The first function is attached to bones to provide movement. Constant adjustments of the skeletal muscles are needed to hold a body upright or balanced in any position.

The second function is a muscle also prevents excess movement of the bones and joints, maintains skeletal stability, and preventing skeletal structure damage or deformation. The third function is to produce heat and energy for the body. Skeletal muscles contribute to the maintenance of homeostasis in the body by generating heat.

The last function is to protect internal organs. Acting as an external barrier or shield to external trauma and by supporting the weight of the organs
