Protection Against Infections

Function:

The thymus is located behind the breastbone above the heart. This organ is very important to the body’s immune system, which helps us fight infections and diseases! The thymus makes white blood cells called T lymphocytes (T cells).

Fun Fact:

After puberty, the thymus starts to slowly shrink and become replaced by fat.
