Function:

The Spleen has many different functions that support our body. Located next to your stomach, it acts as a filter for blood as part of the immune system. It also recycles old red blood cells by breaking them down and using important nutrients. This keeps your blood clean and healthy! The spleen also stores platelets and white blood cells to fight off bacteria.

It acts as a filter for blood as part of the immune system. Old red blood cells are recycled in the Spleen, platelets and white blood cells are also stored there. The Spleen helps to fight off certain kinds of bacteria that cause pneumonia and meningitis.

It will break down and remove cells that are abnormal, old, or damage.
