Function:
The small intestine is made up of three parts: the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. In humans, the small intestine alone measures about 6 to 7 meters long! It has a surface area of over 200 meters to help with the process of digestion.
Together with the esophagus, large intestine, and stomach, it forms the gastrointestinal tract.
Fun Fact:
Your small intestine is longer than you are tall. The small intestine is only 1 inch in diameter but it is about 10 feet long.
