Larry Kramer was not only just an author, a playwright and producer, but he was also an activist for LGBTQ+ rights and he spoke out about the AIDS epidemic in the US. AIDS was originally thought to be a disease that could only be spread by those who identified with homosexuality and only homosexuals would suffer from AIDS. With Kramer’s campaigns and voice, he was able to educate the nation about how AIDS should be seen as a public-health emergency as it would affect anybody regardless of their sexual orientation.
