He works in both digital and traditional collage, drawing, photography, poetry, and research. He is also inspired by Afrofuturism, and its relation to black and queer stories.

  • Awards: Awards from PAFA and the University of the arts, the 2018 Artist in Residence Award from the Rubell Family Collection Contemporary Arts Foundation 
  • Interesting Facts: He was diagnosed with bipolar in 2011, which greatly influenced his work.

Johnathan Lyndon Chase is a painter and visual artist across many medium such as painting, digital as well as traditional collage, drawing, photography, poetry, and embroidery. He focuses his art on the showcasing and normalization of black bodies in everyday spaces. He depicts emotions such as pain, pleasure, tenderness, and despair. He is very inspired by Afrofuturism, and its relation to black and queer stories. He went to University of the Arts and graduated in 2013. Since then, he has had multiple exhibitions including in Los Angeles, two in New York, and three in Philadelphia.
