Function:
The thymus is located behind the breastbone above the heart. This organ is very important to our body’s immune system, which helps us fight infections and diseases! The thymus makes white blood cells called T lymphocytes (T cells).
Fun Fact:
A person without a thymus does not produce these T cells and, therefore, is at great risk for developing infections.
