  • Awards: Tony Award – performance in the musical “Black and Blue” (1985), Grammy Award – Best Jazz Vocal Performance (1989), Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1993), Ralph Gleason Award – Music Journalism (1996)
  • Fun Facts:  She was nicknamed “Miss Rhythm,” she hosted the radio program Blues Stages for six years, she was touring until she was 78 years old, and she known as the “Queen of R&B”

Ever since Ruth Brown was a young child, her passion has always been for music. She didn’t let anyone stop her from chasing her dreams, so she moved and sought out to live out her dream of singing in front of people. Despite the many setbacks she’s endured in life, she always got back up to the top and made hit songs to show she never let what life threw at her bring her down.
