Towers

I can definitely say that my first day of teaching went very well. The students and staff at Southwark Elementary School welcomed me with open arms. I really enjoyed seeing these kids utilize their creative talents in groups to build a tower with marshmallows & straws. It was nice to see them explore different possibilities to build a tower with minimum materials.

I found it interesting that some of the students used the marshmallows as a paste to attach the straws together instead of using them as a base to hold their towers up. The reason I’m pointing this out is because at first glance, it would make sense to use the marshmallows as the base and go from there; however, I figured out that our creative side which is deep within our subconscious mind open up other ways to problem solve.
