Symmetry Through Art at the Northern Liberties Recreation Center

Students make mice out of heart shapes, and masks out of ovals, while learning about shapes and symmetry!

This project is about choosing a holiday and making it relate to art while integrating math and science too. In class, students learn about shadows and source of light by making Groundhog Day art projects. Groundhog-masked students create and move their own shadows, combining art concepts with hands-on experience, before coloring groundhogs and drawing their shadows.
