Popsicle Puppets

Let’s make some new friends out of some reusable popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners!

Materials: A pair of scissors,  a popsicle stick (one for each puppet you would like to make), two pipe cleaners per puppet, and a cut out image. This image can be from be drawn or coloring book/magazine if you have parental permission!

Step 1: Collect images of characters from your favorite books, magazines, coloring book, or draw your own!.

Step 2: First take two pipe cleaners. Make sure they’re even. Take the pipe cleaners and pinch around at the top. Then twist them slowly. Keep doing in until you reach the end of the pipe cleaner.

Step 3: Next, fold them in half. Pinch the middle and twist the looped end, not the open end.

Step 4: Spread the open ends apart and push the top of the loop down through the twisted part

Step 5: Now it is time to glue. Glue the top of the pipe cleaner to the end of the popsicle stick. Now, put it aside to dry.

Step 7: Now it is time to make the head. You can cut out pieces of a magazine, book, or make your own. I personally used an old coloring book to make my heads. I cut my heads from the coloring book and colored them in.

Step 8: Glue the head onto the body.
