Duck Stamp Success!

It always surprises me what holds the kids interest and what keeps them focused; on February 25th, we did a back-to-back Duck Stamp lesson with both the middle school and the second grade class.

The middle schoolers got swept up in the spirit of competition. They enjoyed learning about ducks; we talked about anatomy, habitat, and migration habits. I told them about how kids from all over were competing in the Duck Stamp contest and they wanted to make their stamps really pop. They were still focused when it was time to head to the next class, so I promised I’d come back up to collect their work in an hour.

The younger class was also super focused on the project. We talked about breaking a duck down into simple shapes and drew it together as a class. They made beautiful drawings and were all proud of themselves when we handed out their certificates for completing the contest!
