Do You Know The Color Wheel?

Hi all! I am Miss Dayna, the lead art teacher over at Cione Rec Center along with my great assistant, Miss Becca. This is my second year seeing the kids over at Cione, and it was so fun to see familiar faces again! (Especially when some of the “littles” are now considered “bigs!”)

Littles – Cione Rec Center
We began our first class with the little ones (ages 5-6) by seeing what they knew about color and if they could put their knowledge onto a color wheel paper. We could tell many students knew their colors, but getting it in the right order was trickier. The kids were asked the fill out the wheel all on their own and try their best.

Once students finished their first color wheel, we put the materials down and compared our color wheels to a rainbow. We discussed that the rainbow is simply the color wheel IN A CIRCLE! 🙂 Then I showed the kids how to soak “dead markers” into water to create watercolor paint. I only soaked the primary colors – red, yellow, and blue – and watched carefully what happens when two primary colors mix! (shhh, you get secondary colors!)
