Bob Marley Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and musician. He served as an ambassador for reggae music, and he sold over 20 million records throughout his career. Marley was born in St. Anne Parish, Jamaica, on February 6th, 1945 to Cedella Booker and Norvall Marley. He helped introduce reggae music to the world, and remains one of the genre’s most beloved artists to this day. His music told stories of his home in Jamaica, his Rastafarian religion, and politics. In 1963, Marley and his two friends, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer formed the band, “The Wailing Wailers”. The Wailers got their big break in 1972 when they were signed to Island Records. The band members went on to pursue solo careers in 1974.
The Wailing Wailers One of Bob Marley’s most popular songs is called “Three Little Birds.” This is an uplifting tune from Bob Marley and the Wailer’s ninth album, Exodus. It is famous for it’s reassuring refrain, “Don’t worry about a thing, cuz’ every little thing is gonna be alright.” Marley received this message from the birds that often sat on his doorstep in Kingston, Jamaica.
