Animal Envelopes

Duration: 30-45 minutes

Level: K-3rd

Materials: Brown, white, orange, and white construction paper, paper white and black circles, glue, scissors, and orange and black markers/crayons/colored pencils.

Procedures:
  1. Cut an 8”x11” piece of construction paper in half, length-wise.
  2. Fold into thirds
  3. Cut the part of the paper that when folded, rests on top. Cut it so that it makes a triangle, save the scraps of orange paper.
  4. Glue on the white paper circles for eyes. Draw on the irises.

For the brown paper envelopes:

  1. Glue the black paper circles on the point of the triangle for a nose
  2. Decorate with black to look like a brown bear

For the white paper envelopes:

  1. Glue the black paper circles on the point of the triangle for a nose
  2. Decorate with black to look like a panda.

For the orange paper envelopes:

  1. Cut the orange scraps into triangles
  2. Glue to the top of the face to make ears
  3. Decorate with black to look like a fox

For the yellow paper envelopes:

  1. Color in the point of the face with orange for a beak
  2. Decorate with black to look like a bird
To finish…
  1. In the inside of the envelope, write a story about the animal. This can be as simple as “My panda’s name is _______. He is happy and nice. He likes to eat________.”
